Yesterday was so easy. today was so not. That is all

By some method of sorcery (aka uncle Mitch is here) I had much of the day with only Kai. DURING PRESEASON. This little chunk gets left on various baby lounges a lot of the time, bc #cliff. But when I have time with just him, boy does he bring me joy. Even though I apparently can't keep his shirt dry or from exposing his midriff.

Already one month so I don't understand anything. 😭

4 weeks and pretty much as sad as I am that he's already outgrowing his newborn clothes

I have had to answer this sweet one's requests with "no" so many times these past few weeks. Today he asked if we could go get coffee--i.e. play with the train table at the coffee shop--and I literally said "I'm sorry cliff. I'm just not feeling that brave." I had already run a couple errands with both boys and cliff throws a fit every time it's time to leave said trains...I just wasn't up for it. Then he asked to go to the playground. Then he asked to go to the pool. 💔💔💔 So we came home and had popsicles instead. Trying to give my best to two small souls is a lot. Hopefully he only remembers the popsicles.

I swear he's grown 3 inches in the past 3 weeks 😞

Yesterday we lost perhaps the most beautiful person I have ever known. I am so grateful my son shares his name with Granddaddy Cliff and that I got to spend 10 years of my life learning from and loving him--it was not nearly enough. May we carry on his legacy of generosity, kindness, courage and tenacity.

I cannot brag about this amazing husband and dad enough. And I'll be harnessing aallll of these good thoughts throughout the upcoming soccer season when his spare time is 🙅🏼

This is about a week before Kai was born and already feels impossible to remember.
